Sports journalism

Whether it’s grassroots, Premier League or an Olympic final, all present are witnessing a moment in history, however big or small it is deemed to be.

All the while, I am observing and recording what is taking place by posting updates on social media, writing running copy, blogs and on-the-whistle reports.

There is the dash down to the mixed zone or the managers’ press conference to elicit the thoughts and feelings of the protagonists at a time when the full range of emotion is so raw.

I undertake extensive research ahead of the event in order to give the reader perspective and insight and to tell the full story.

My copy is compelling, clean and accurate and appropriate for the readership be it tabloid, broadsheet or niche.

“Liz’s written work was – and remains – of the highest standard”

“I worked with Liz for many years at PA where she was a highly-respected team member on the main wire.

“Her written work was – and remains – of the highest standard with fine attention to detail. She was always looking for a fresh angle and gave the readers great depth and insight, often taking complex information and making it accessible to everyone across a range of sports.

“Liz is adaptable, hard-working and produces quality copy under pressure whether it be as part of a team or working solo at an event.”

Simon Lansley, former editor at PA Sport and founder of ConnectSport
